Research projects

Saddle Point Science Europe participates in collaborative research projects that advance statistical methodology and address complex challenges in biomedical research. Working with academic, clinical and industry partners, we contribute our expertise in mathematical modelling, statistical analysis and computational methods to develop innovative solutions and translate scientific research into practical applications.

Neurotwins

The NEUROTWINS (NEUROrehabilitation with TWIN-based Prediction and Optimization at Scale)  project – a hyper-scalable, data-driven stroke rehabilitation solution that bridges hospital and home care. By transforming everyday devices such as smartphones, laptops, and TVs into powerful telerehabilitation tools, NEUROTWINS aims to improve patients’ quality of life, personalize recovery programs, and significantly reduce healthcare costs.

The goal is to develop a rehabilitation platform based on AI and patient Digital Twins for improved prediction and optimization of recovery.

BreIn-VR

BREIN-VR (Beroerte Revalidatie Intelligence in Virtual Reality (BReIn-VR)), aims to develop a multi-player VR application for interactive stroke rehabilitation of motor (hand and upper limb) cognitive functions, combined with AI-driven recovery predictions and  findings.

The project is funded by the MIT R&D-Samenwerkingsprojecten subsidy that supports collaborative R&D projects by Dutch SMEs that jointly develop innovative products, processes, or services. It covers part of the project costs and focuses on innovation, economic impact, and effective cooperation.

SPARCS

SPARCS stands for Science-based, Personalized Aphasia Rehabilitation Continuum after Stroke.
It brings together neuroscience, clinical expertise, and scalable digital technology to revolutionize the way aphasia is treated.

The objective of the EU-funded consortium is to develop a multi-player VR application for interactive aphasia rehabilitation, combined with AI-driven recovery predictions and findings.

AISN

The EU-funded AISN project aims to develop a robust computational/AI pipeline for inference, prognosis and clinical decision support in patients with deteriorating physical and/or cognitive function. The pipeline will use advanced dynamic statistical models and interpretable algorithms to extract predictive parameters from longitudinal data, and for inferring the optimal personalized treatment regime.

It will include user-friendly visualization of inferred quantitative characteristics for clinicians, and will be tested and validated using training and validation sets from clinical partners from multiple EU countries.

PHRASE

The objective of the EU-funded consortium PHRASE (Personalised Health cognitive assistance for RehAbilitation SystEm) is to create a workflow that integrates the best available scientific knowledge and obtain efficient personalized prognosis and intervention protocols for stroke and other brain-related diseases.

It is based on Eodyne’s RGS (Revalidation Gaming System) ecosystem of applications. Saddle Point Science Europe brings the expertise to design and implement data analytics tools and personalized algorithms for continuous improvement of the intervention protocols.
